ChiangRai Prachanukroh Hospital history


Chiang Rai Prachanukroh Hospital , or Chiang Rai people popularly have called as Hong-Ya Thai (Thai hospital), and the word of Prachanukroh (supporting by the public)means that it has been supported establishment by the public. The history started since 1932 that a group of people called as People's Party, changed government and had policy to establish provincial hospitals by issued Public Health Act. in the year 1934, under the administration of Prime Minister Phraya Phahonphonphayuhasena who was a leader of the People's Party at the time, in order to show the dignity of the nation to neighboring countrieswhich were colonies of the Western nations according to a policy of showing the flag in 1936.KhunPhraPhanomNakararak, the governor of Chiang Rai Province, who was considered as a founder of the Chiang Rai Prachanukroh Hospital, had intention to establish a hospital in Chiang Rai Province, and the people in Chiang Rai led by Mr. Srisak and Mrs. Kimheay Tripaiboon 19 Rai of land, including some people who had a land nearby also donated together, and then obtained approval from the Ministry of Health to construction, as well as it was funded by donations from the public in Chiang Rai, with the cooperation of Mr. Wisit Udornkan, Provincial finance Mr. SuwanRatanaraj, as well as many wealthy people and Barons of rice mill under the leadership of Mr. Mui Tewit and his wifefrom Chiang Rai, and Mr. Pisit Kaisorn, Mr. Srinakaranukul and Mrs. Wai from Phayao also supported. The Chiang Rai Prachanukroh Hospital was opened on 11stFebruary 1937 (Friday) with one physician, Dr. Sem Pringpuangkeaw , who had developed and built a reputation as much for the hospital. Firstly, the Chiang Rai Prachanukroh Hospital was approved as the general hospital with 50 patient beds and the bed was increased step by step, and in 1988 the hospital was approved as the central hospital with 600 patient beds, and currently there are 756 patient beds and an area of 72 Rai, 3 Ngan and 4 Squre War.
